Plus, SAVE MONEY on hundreds of auction items in dozens of categories - since the typical auction item will sell for around 50% off of its normal price. We already have some fantastic auction items (see below), but we still need your help in one of three ways:
1. VOLUNTEER - we need volunteers the night of the event - please email SANDY if you're available to volunteer in before the event or during set-up or the event itself;
2. DONATE - do you or anyone you know own or manage a business that can donate an item; tickets or gift certificates? Contact RICK if you do!
3. INVITE & ATTEND - make it a family or small group event--or make an announcement at church or work. Getting a big turnout for the event is what we need the most help with! REMEMBER: the auction is fun; you save money on Christmas shopping AND it supports a great cause! (Public Welcome - No tickets required!)
A preview of some of the auction items will be coming soon - so please check back!

Four more families buying homes!
Douglas and Linda (Kenya) are the most recent family to buy a house in Aurora through Emmanuel House - and are one of four Emmanuel House families who have purchased - or are in the process of purchasing - their first home this year. Another family is from Burundi, and two others are from the Democratic Republic of Congo. New families from Iraq, Burma (Myanmar) and Rwanda will be taking their place.
Additionally, Emmanuel House has brought on six additional apartments (three duplexes) on Aurora's Near East Side just this year alone. While we will continue to offer our program to refugee families at our original "Bryan House" location, these three new buildings represent an expansion of our mission to help other lower income families in Aurora begin to strengthen their families and their communities through home-ownership. Three families have already begun the program in East Aurora and three more apartments are under rehab. These are exciting times for our organization!

New Family Moves Into New East Side Emmanuel House Propoerty!
Located just across the street from a quaint neighborhood park, this new two-flat apartment building is now partially occuppied - less than a month after closing on this, our second East Aurora two-flat. The first apartment was renovated with a lot of help from Community Christian Church's "Hammerheads" volunteer team--and with the help of the family now living there (they can be seen working in the background in the below picture). The family, originally from East Aurora, used to live just a block away before losing their apartment last year. Thanks to our volunteers and generous donors, they are now on a pathway to rebuilding their credit and becoming homeowners in a neighborhood desperately in need of more owner-occupied housing.
